The Saucony Kinvara 3 is honestly the most comfortable running shoe I have ever put on. The Flexfilm technology, which is a pliable material welded onto the upper, sort of locks the runner’s foot in place. It almost feels like the entire shoe shrinks around your foot without squashing it. It really is a shoe worth trying on. Even if it is just to put a smile on your face.

So you’ve got a website, but getting it to rank is not easy.  It can also be quite an expensive process if you’re paying agency fees. There is good news however. Although it can be time-consuming initially, it’s not hard to do a lot of it yourself. I have put together some of the tools which I use in order to achieve close to 60 000 visits per day and rank top 10 on Google for most related search terms.

Register with various web analysis tools. This is a great way to boost your site’s performance and is almost a must have in order to increase search ranking and traffic. They also offer various tools which will aid you in understanding what makes a good website and how you can get there. The following analytics tools are some of the more popular ones:

Learn HTML. It is quite simple and can be very useful in order to gain control of your website. Being able to edit your HTML on an ongoing basis ensures that your site stays fresh and, along with new content, consistently grows.

Ensure that your content is relevant and up to date. Without new content a webpage becomes stagnant. This means that the lack of change gives search engines no reason to check your pages for new updates. Because other websites are constantly getting updated with new content people will want to visit them and hence search engines will pay more attention to those websites.

Make use of RSS feeds.  Feeds provide people with the opportunity to view and surf through headlines from various sites quickly. If they see a topic of interest, then they will click on the link in the feed and go and read about it online. Inversely, feeds allow websites to have the opportunity to distribute and share content from other sites. This is achieved by linking your site to other sites using back links. You can also have your feed submitted to directories. Click here for a list of the most popular directories. A popular web feed management provider is FeedBurner.

Make use of Trackbacks and Pingbacks. What is this you may ask? A trackback is a link to a reference or resource which you used in order to create your own content or blog post. These links are manually inserted into a box where your content is written.  A pingback is an automated trackback created by using what most would call a Hyperlink, but that only refers to documents. A pingback is basically the link in the subheading of this very topic.

Register and use Social Networking regularly. Social networking is undoubtedly a powerful tool. The fact that Facebook is the second most popular website to Google should tell you something. How could you not want to associate your website with kind of prospecting potential (if I can call it that). Likewise Twitter’s growth was and still is exponential. With 20 million Tweets per day, get in there I say. There many other sites out there but these two are by far the best place to start.

What’s up Don? How you?

All good thanks, I’m allergic to moaning!

Please tell us a little more about yourself and how you got into creating such amazing pieces?

I’m basic – i do things that make me happy. I’m non-conformist. I like bending rules, and painting lets me do this.

What is your personal definition of art?

Like music, art should move you. I don’t believe it’s art if it doesn’t.

It’s clear that you have a love for art. What are some of your other passions?

I love listening to music, I pull inspiration from lyrics. I draw. I read alot. And i like riding waves.

Two words to describe yourself?

Deep. Happy.

And the ultimate artistic cliche: what is your inspiration?

That which i see around me, and that which i don’t. My best work i find happens when i paint my emotions.

Do you have a favourite colour?

Black

What is your own favourite piece to date? We are going to need a picture of it too please?

“The Crucifixion” – 2008 – it was painted from a dark place.

Describe the industry in South Africa as you have experienced it.

We have tons of well renowned investment artists. Marlene Dumas, William Kentridge, Heike Davies. The decorative art industry is a different kettle of fish.

What advice would you give to aspiring artists out there?

Paint what resonates with you. Don’t, whatever you do, paint between the lines.
